Dispersion Lotto
How "spread out" across the pool were the numbers in a single draw?

Spread of numbers in a draw
For every draw we compute the standard deviation of the 6 drawn numbers — the larger it is, the wider the numbers spread across the 1–49 pool. We group the results into bands of 1,0 deviation points each. All the numbers on this page come from the history of draws.

Distribution of standard deviation in the range
Observed = how many draws out of N had a deviation in a given range. Lower bound of the range is inclusive, upper bound is exclusive.

|---|---|---|
| 6,0–7,0 | 2 | 4,0% |

| 17,0–18,0 | 3 | 6,0% |
The model distribution of dispersion has not been computed yet, so the table shows history only — there is no „expected” column here and no number is compared with the random model.
How we calculate it
We compute the standard deviation separately for every draw from its 6 drawn numbers, and assign the result to a band of width 1,0, rounding down. The median band is the first band in which the cumulative number of draws reaches half of N; the „below” and „above” shares count draws from the lower and higher bands respectively. All the values concern the selected range of recent draws and describe the past.
Interactive tools
Explore the same data actively. The tools describe history and the random model; they do not predict the next result.
My selection — check its properties against history
This describes the entered selection and its position in the historical sample. It does not increase its chance.

Generate independent draws with the rules of this game and compare observed counts with the common expected value. Every run is different.
What do these numbers show?
- In 50 draws the standard deviation of the numbers most often fell in the band 13,0–14,0 — 10 draws (20,0%, source: history).
- The median band is 13,0–14,0: 48,0% of draws fell below it and 32,0% above (source: history).
These are historical data. Each draw is independent of previous draws, so these numbers do not tell us what will be drawn next.
How do I use this page?
- Choose a number of recent draws in the range selector.
- Read which standard-deviation band contained the most draws.
- Compare the shares below and above the median band to see how symmetrical the distribution was.
- In the table, check the percentage share of each band in the chosen range.
What this page does not do: it does not compare history with the random model (which has not been computed yet) and does not point to numbers to play.
