Kaskada — rules of the cascade game

In short

Kaskada is a Totalizator Sportowy game in which you mark 12 numbers out of a pool of 24, and the machine draws 12. Draws take place twice a day. Both high and very low hit counts are rewarded — hence the name: the result „cascades” down both sides of the scale, while the middle of the table pays nothing.

Kaskada has the smallest number pool among all the number games offered by Totalizator Sportowy. Twenty-four numbers is less than half the pool of Lotto and barely a third of the Multi Multi pool. This tightness changes how the whole bet works: you mark exactly half of the available numbers, and the machine draws exactly half of the available numbers — which means your picks and the draw result always share a part, but also always have a disjoint part.

How many numbers you mark in Kaskada

The basic bet is 12 numbers marked from a pool of 1 to 24. There is no „how many do I want to mark” choice here, unlike Multi Multi, where the player decides the number of picks themselves. In Kaskada the number of picks is fixed and equal to the number of balls drawn.

This symmetry has an interesting arithmetic consequence. Since you marked 12 out of 24, and the machine drew 12 out of 24, the numbers you did not mark also number twelve — and the numbers not drawn also number twelve. If you hit eight numbers, that means four of your picks were outside the result, and four drawn numbers were outside your ticket. Hits and misses are tightly linked, and you cannot have a lot of one without a small number of the other.

Why this is a „cascade” game

In most number games the relationship is simple: the more hits, the higher the prize, and below a certain threshold there is nothing. In Kaskada the prize table is symmetrical around the middle of the scale. High hit counts are rewarded — and very low hit counts are rewarded too, including zero.

The reason is the same one mentioned above: zero hits in Kaskada is just as difficult as a full match. To hit zero numbers with twelve picks out of twenty-four, all your picks would have to land exactly in the half of the pool the machine did not draw. That is the same setup as hitting a full match, only reversed — which is why the prize for zero is justified in this game and not a marketing gimmick.

What is not worthwhile, however, is the middle. Six hits out of twelve picks is the most probable outcome — half your ticket in the result, half outside it — and that is exactly why nothing is paid for it. What gets rewarded is deviation from the average, in either direction.

How often draws take place

Kaskada is drawn twice a day, similarly to Multi Multi. This doubles the number of results per day compared to Lotto, which is drawn several times a week, and means two separate betting windows within a single day.

This has practical significance when reading results. Two draws on one day are two separate records with the same date, so the date alone is not enough to unambiguously identify a draw — you also need the draw number or its time. If you are checking a ticket from a specific day, pay attention to whether you are looking at the afternoon or the evening results.

Kaskada versus other number games — comparison

What this means for result statistics

With a pool of 24 numbers and twelve balls drawn, each individual number appears in the result much more often than in games with a large pool. This makes the draw history of Kaskada look different from Lotto's history: differences in the number of occurrences of individual numbers are proportionally smaller, and long absence streaks are rarer.

This does not, however, change the nature of the draw itself. Each draw is independent of the previous ones, and the fact that a given number has not come up for a dozen or so draws in a row does not affect its chance in the next one in any way. Tax on Kaskada winnings

Tax rules are the same as for the other Totalizator Sportowy number games. A single win of up to and including 2,280 PLN is exempt from income tax; above this threshold, a flat-rate tax of 10 percent of the full prize value is withheld. The deduction is made by the organizer at payout, so the player does not file any declaration.
