Where to watch live draws of Lotto number games?

Studio Lotto is one of the longest-running formats in the history of Polish television. Over more than half a century it has changed channels, broadcast times and presenters, and in recent years it has also moved online. Below we've gathered what's genuinely useful to a player: where to look for the broadcast, when it starts, why the draw time changed in 2024, and what to do if you miss a draw.

What time do the draws take place

Until 31 July 2024, the evening Studio Lotto started at 9:40 PM. From 1 August 2024, Totalizator Sportowy moved the start to 10:00 PM, and this schedule still applies. The change affected all games drawn in the evening: Lotto, Lotto Plus, Mini Lotto, Multi Multi and Kaskada.

Lotto and Lotto Plus are drawn three times a week — on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Mini Lotto, Multi Multi and Kaskada take place daily, with Multi Multi and Kaskada having two draws a day: afternoon and evening. Eurojackpot, as an international game, is drawn on Tuesday and Friday evenings according to the European schedule, independent of Studio Lotto.

The twenty-minute shift has a practical meaning for sales itself: you can buy a ticket for a given draw until betting closes, and that deadline moved together with the draw time. If for years you've been buying your ticket just before 9:40 PM, you now have a bit more time — but don't treat this as a permanent rule. The organizer can change sales closing times, and it's always worth checking them directly with them.

Where to watch the broadcast today

Evening draws are broadcast on Telewizja Polska — for years the transmitting channel has mainly been TVP Info. The broadcast is also carried simultaneously on the official channels of Totalizator Sportowy: on lotto.pl, on YouTube and on Facebook. It's the same broadcast, so choosing a channel is a matter of convenience, not access to different data.

Afternoon draws of Multi Multi and Kaskada do not air on television. They are available online only, on the organizer's channels. If you play these games for the afternoon draw, a TV set won't help — you need to reach for the online broadcast.

The signal itself comes from the organizer — we add context to it: numbers from previous draws, statistics and a countdown to the start. We publish results immediately after the draw ends, but the basis for settling a bet always remains the official protocol of Totalizator Sportowy.

From the betting shop to television — how results were once found out

The first Toto-Lotek draw took place on 27 January 1957. A ticket could be bought at a betting shop, but checking the result required patience: there was no television broadcast, nor an immediate radio announcement. The player went for a newspaper the next day, or went back to the shop, where the list of drawn numbers was posted.

From today's perspective it's hard to imagine, but a delay of several hours between the draw and the news of the result was the norm for the first sixteen years of the game's existence. It was television that cut this gap down to almost nothing — and it was television that built around the draw a ritual that has survived to this day.

Broadcast history: TP1, TVP2, Polsat and back

The first televised draw took place on 11 March 1973 on TP1 — back then the abbreviation of Telewizja Polska was still written without the letter „V”. The programme was broadcast in the afternoon hours. On 28 September 1991, the last Studio Lotto aired on TP1, and from 2 October the broadcast moved to the second channel.

From 1992, already as TVP2, the channel carried the draws until 16 March 1996. In parallel, from 1995, the so-called Special Games were drawn at Polsat's headquarters — and it was there, from 18 March 1996, that Studio Lotto moved entirely, together with Ryszard Rembiszewski. On Polsat, draws were broadcast at times including around 8:50 PM, and later 9:30 PM and 9:50 PM.

From 2009, broadcasts returned to Telewizja Polska. They appeared on TVP1, TVP2 and TVP Info, until the role of transmitting channel was ultimately taken over by TVP Info. Between 2010 and 2017 the format was hosted by two presenters, with guests appearing in the studio — an attempt was made to turn the draw into an entertainment programme. The idea was abandoned, and the format returned to a simple formula: one host, balls, result.

How to check the result if you missed the broadcast

The broadcast is a pleasure, not an obligation. Results of all games are published immediately after the draw on the organizer's website and on results services, including on pewniaki.pl in each game's results section. Studio Lotto recordings remain available on the Totalizator Sportowy YouTube channel, so the draw can also be replayed later.

If you bought your ticket at a point of sale, keep it until the result is confirmed — it is the document entitling you to collect a prize. Tickets bought online are settled automatically on the player's account. Deadlines for collecting a prize are set out in the game rules, so after a win the first step should be to check them, not a calculator.

What the broadcast doesn't change

Watching the draw live has no effect whatsoever on the result. Every draw is an independent event: the balls don't remember previous results, and whether you're watching the screen or asleep doesn't change the probability by even a fraction of a per mille. In Lotto, the chance of hitting the six numbers is 1 in 13,983,816 and is identical for every set of six numbers — including the sequence 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.

The number statistics we publish are interesting as a description of the past and can be useful when putting together a set that isn't chosen by the crowd — and so, in the event of a win, sharing the prize pool among fewer people. However, they are not a tool that influences what the balls will draw. Number games are entertainment for adults; play only with amounts whose loss won't hurt.
