Percentile rank calculator
Paste a data set and enter the score whose relative position you want to measure.
How do I use this page?
- Paste all observations.
- Enter the value to rank.
- Read the rank and the below, equal and above counts.
What this page does not do: Several percentile-rank conventions exist, so other tools may return a slightly different result when the selected value is tied.

Theory — what is percentile rank?
Percentile rank describes the position of a specific value relative to an entire data set. The calculator counts how many results in the set are lower than the checked value, adds half of the results equal to it, and divides that sum by the number of observations. A rank of 75% means the checked value lies above three quarters of the remaining results. This differs from a percentile — rank gives the position of a given value, while a percentile gives the value matching a chosen percentage.
