What do these numbers show?
  • The average spread across 50 draws was 35.4. The random model has an average of 35.7 — a difference of 0.3. This is a descriptive comparison, not a test result.
  • The median spread in the range is 36: at least half of the 50 draws had a spread no greater than this value (source: history).

These are historical data. Each draw is independent of previous draws, so these numbers do not tell us what will be drawn next.

How do I use this page?
  1. Choose a number of recent draws or a range of years.
  2. Compare the historical average spread with the model average.
  3. Use the interval table to see how often the spread fell within each interval.
  4. The “% model” column shows the share of all possible combinations that have that spread.

What this page does not do: does not suggest numbers to play or predict the spread of the next draw.

Spread of numbers in a draw

Spread is the difference between the largest and smallest of the 6 drawn numbers. In Lotto Plus it can take values from 5 to 48. The random model gives its exact distribution — calculated from all possible combinations, not from a simulation.

Methodology

The model assumes that every combination of 6 numbers out of 49 is equally likely. A combination with spread d has a fixed smallest and largest number d apart, with the remaining numbers lying between them — so the number of such combinations is (pool − d) · C(d − 1, picks − 2), and the probability of spread d is that product divided by C(pool, picks). History is calculated from raw draw counts in the selected range; a range of years sums the yearly counts. When the model distribution is incomplete, the page shows the history without a comparison and puts a dash — not a zero — in place of the model value. The difference between averages is a description, not a statistical test — the page does not assess its significance. The histogram shows the data rendered when the page loaded; after changing the range, the current figures are in the tables.
