What do these numbers mean?
  • We compute it from the formula shown below — not from a prediction model and not from draw history.
  • Worked example: 10 tickets out of 100 with one prize gives 10%. With several prizes, multiplying that percentage by the prize count is not the correct probability.

The numbers come from the formula and the values you typed above. They are not a forecast — no calculator changes the probability of a single draw.

How do I use this page?
  1. Enter your data and check the input limits.
  2. Read the result and the detail table when available.
  3. Change the inputs to compare scenarios. Calculations run locally in your browser.

What this page does not do: It does not point to numbers to play and does not predict a draw — every draw is independent of the previous ones.

Formula

P(X ≥ 1) = 1 − C(N − k, m) / C(N, m)
N is the total number of eligible tickets, k is your ticket count and m is the number of winning tickets drawn. Every ticket is equally likely. A drawn ticket is not returned to the pool. One person may win more than once with different tickets.
Theory — how are raffle odds calculated?

The calculator works out the chance of winning at least one prize when tickets are drawn without replacement. N is the total number of eligible tickets, k is how many tickets you hold, and m is the number of winning tickets drawn. Every ticket has an equal chance, and a drawn ticket never returns to the pool, so one person can win multiple times with different tickets. The result depends only on these three numbers set by the organiser.

Frequently asked questions

What data should I enter in the raffle odds calculator?
Enter the total number of eligible tickets, your ticket count and the number of winning tickets drawn. Your tickets and the number of prizes cannot exceed the pool.
Does the calculator assume that drawn tickets are returned to the pool?
No. Every ticket is equally likely, and a drawn ticket is not returned to the pool. One person may win more than once with different tickets.
Does this model apply if all of a winner’s tickets are removed?
No. Removing all of a person’s tickets after their first win changes the drawing rules and is not covered by this model.
