Theory — how are Polish statutory interest payments calculated?

Statutory interest in Poland changes together with the NBP reference rate, so it is not a fixed value over time. When the chosen period covers a rate change, the whole span cannot be calculated with a single percentage. The calculator splits the entered dates into segments matching the rate in force at each moment and applies the formula separately to each one. Both the start and end dates are included in the count.

Frequently asked questions

Is the payment day included?
This calculator includes both entered dates. Enter the actual first day for which interest is legally due.
What is the difference between statutory and late-payment interest?
They have different legal purposes and rates. Late-payment interest is generally higher and applies to delayed payment.
Does this tool calculate Polish tax or ZUS interest?
No. Those debts use separate rates, rounding rules and collection thresholds.
Why is the result split into several periods?
The statutory rate changed over time, so each part must use the rate effective on those days.
