Stem-and-leaf plot maker

Turn a list of non-negative numbers into a readable stem-and-leaf plot. The tool preserves individual observations, sorts leaves and reports the count in every row.

The selected leaf unit controls the displayed precision. Values between units are rounded to the nearest unit and clearly reported.

Import a CSV file

One numeric column, up to 10,000 rows and 1 MB. Data is read on this device.

Your numbers stay in this browser. No account or upload to the server is needed.

How do I use this page?
  1. Paste the data and choose a leaf unit: 0.1, 1 or 10.
  2. Select “Make the plot”; the leaves are sorted in ascending order.
  3. Use the key below the table to combine each stem and leaf correctly.
Method and worked example

After division by the leaf unit, the final digit becomes the leaf and all preceding digits form the stem.

Repeated observations remain visible as repeated leaves, so the plot shows distribution shape while preserving data values.

This tool accepts non-negative data. A value that does not align with the selected leaf unit is rounded to the nearest unit and the result displays a warning.

For 12, 15, 15, 19, 20 and 23 with leaf unit 1, the row 1 | 2 5 5 9 represents 12, 15, 15 and 19.
